Advanced Testing In The Fight Against Food Fraud
Freshpak have recently linked up with a Norwich test laboratory, Food Forensics, to deliver industry leading authenticity and provenance checks on key raw ingredients. Using an advanced forensic technology called Stable Isotope Ratio Analysis (SIRA), the testing compares products at intake with an established reference database. In this way, products can be tested for consistency with the stated origin and/or production system and used as part of Freshpak’s due diligence plan. David Green, Freshpak Head of Technical, said “Responsible food manufacturers must do all they can to guarantee the origin and authenticity of their food products.
